Good day! I am Korey Kong. I write this blog because ever since I am a metal head and I think I was born just to listen to rock songs. I am also listening to pop but most of the time rock songs, I don’t know why. While I’m writing this blog, I’m listening to one of my favorite band (YIIEEEE HART HART).
This is my top 5 OPM ROCK BAND, Let’s start with number 5.
5) Mayonnaise
This is renowned for winning the “Red Horse Muziklaban” back 2004. The band composed of 5 members: Monty Macalino for vocals, lead and rhythm guitar, Shan Regalado for drums, Carlo Servano lead and rhythm guitars, Maan Furio for guitar, and Nikki Tirona for bass guitar and backing vocals. This band known for their song “JOPAY” and has 6 albums as of this year. The genres of the band are Alternative rock, Indie rock, Pop punk, Pinoy rock, Pop rock. Most of their composition is about love (broken heart, romance love, etc.).
4) Android-18
The members of band are: Gela Quevedo for vocals, Niokz Arcega and Mond Rojo for guitars, Kokoy Quevedo for bass, and Lui Baustista for drums. This band came from Antipolo City. They Started in When Gela and Noikz decided to form a band and look for members. February 2011, began to spread their name in underground music scene because of their catchy sound and relatable lyrics (like hugots in a punk way) and with wild live performances.
3) Cueshe
They came from Cebu. Ruben Caballero — lead vocals, rhythm guitar, Jovan Mabini for lead guitar, backing vocals, Fritz Labrado for bass guitar, and Cesar delos Santos for drums. Their genres are alternative rock and pop rock. The albums that they released are half empty half full back (2005), back to me (2006), Driven (2008), and Life (2010). The song, “Stay” is the favorite song at 1st MYX Music Awards.
2) Kamikazee
Kamikazee is a Filipino rock band formed in 2000. The band is composed of Jay Contreras (vocals), Jomal Linao (guitar), Led Tuyay (rhythm guitar), Puto Astete (bass) and Bords Burdeos (drums). Fans and critics have described the band’s music as a mix of pop-punk and hard rock. these are the Collaboration album: Supersize Rock (Warner Music Philippines, 2004), Kami nAPO muna (Universal Records, 2006), The Biggest OPM Hits Of The Year SUPER (Universal Records, 2006), Rok On (Viva Records, 2005), Pinoy Ako 2 (Star Music, 2005), Palabas: The Best Of OPM TV & Movie Themes (Universal Records, 2006), Kami nAPO muna ulit (Universal Records, 2007), Another Biggest OPM Hits Of The Year SUPER 2 (Universal Records, 2007), Astig…The Biggest Band Hits (Universal Records, 2008) and, Super Astig Hits (Universal Records, 2016). This year they’re about to finish their tour around the country here in the Philippines.
1)Slapshock
Slapshock is a Filipino heavy metal band. They were formed in 1997, originally as a rap metal act, with their early musical style compared to that of Korn. They have since shifted towards a metalcore style. Jamir Garcia for lead vocals, Lee Nadela for bass guitar, Lean Ansing for lead guitar, Chi Evora for drums and, Jerry Basco for rhythm guitar / backup vocals. Their genres are alternative metal, metalcore, nu metal, and rap metal (early in their career). Studio Albums: 4th Degree Burn (1999), Headtrip (2001), Project 11-41 (2002), Novena (2004), Silence (2006), Kinse Kalibre (2011) and, Atake (2017).
